Reflections Art Contest

Calling all student artists! This year’s Reflections theme is “I Belong” — a powerful opportunity for students to express what belonging means to them through art.

Students may submit original works in one or more of the following six categories:

  • Dance Choreography

  • Film Production

  • Literature

  • Music Composition

  • Photography

  • Visual Arts

Important Guidelines for All Entries:

  • One student per entry: Each submission must be the original work of one student only. Group entries will not be accepted.

  • Originality matters: Reflections is designed to celebrate individual creativity. Students must make their own artistic choices — help from family, friends, or teachers is not allowed.

  • Student voice: Titles and artist statements must reflect the student’s own words and interpretation of the theme.

  • Creative control: All decisions in the creative process must be made by the submitting student. Any outside support should be limited, age-appropriate, and not interfere with the student’s ownership of the work.

Submission Form:
Click here to download the entry packet, physical copies will be provided in the CMMS main office. Students may submit their entries in one of two ways:

Email digital entries (photos, videos, audio files, documents, etc.) to: programs@cougarmountainptsa.org or drop off physical entries (such as visual art, printed literature, etc.) at the CMMS main office.

Important: Every entry must include a completed entry form. Entries without a fully completed form will be disqualified.  All entries due by October 31st

Category Rules & Guidelines:
For full details on how to prepare your work for submission, visit the Reflections Program page and scroll down to your chosen art category.

The CMMS PTSA Annual Fundraiser "Pass the Hat" is happening now!
Our goal this year is to raise $15,000. So far about $8k has been donated!

Suggested donation is $75 per student which helps maintain our current levels of programming. However, any donation makes a difference and is greatly appreciated to help us reach our goal by September 30

Your donations will directly support PTSA's ability to provide grants directly to teachers, host social events for students, and other PTSA programs such as staff appreciation, school volunteer support, and advocacy efforts.

Double your donations! Many employers match donations or pay for the hours that you volunteer. Every dollar counts! For more info, please click here or contact us.

Here's what your contributions funded last year:

  • Angel Program - Supported students who need assistance with basic necessities that are impacted by financial hardships.
  • Grants - PTSA provided teacher-requested funding for pull-down maps, dry erase boards, tuners for the band room, pocket microscopes, a race timer, and geometry compasses.
  • Gift-A-Book Program - The CMMS library became 111 books richer this year.
  • Staff Appreciation - PTSA provided a back-to-school lunch for CMMS staff, a Cookie Crawl in December, chocolate treats in February, and the much loved spring Staff Appreciation Week.
  • Reflections - CMMS students submitted 10 entries to this National PTA art competition.
  • School Events - PTSA hosted the Glow Dance Party and Family Bingo Night.
  • 8th Grade Promotion & Falcon Festival - Provided decorations and volunteer support.

What’s The Difference Between PTSA, ASB, and ISF?

The Parent Teacher Student Association (PTSA), Associated Student Body (ASB), and Issaquah Schools Foundation (ISF) are three separate but complementary organizations which provide a variety of support to multiple programs at CMMS. While each school has its own PTSA and ASB, the ISF supports all schools district-wide. More information available here
