Congratulations to Our 2026 Award Winners!

From Left to Right:

Chris Wieland - Golden Acorn

Christine Wieland has gone above and beyond in her role as a CMMS teacher by helping lead the planning of our inaugural Multicultural Fair. Volunteering her time, she is working closely with students and the PTSA to bring this event to life, ensuring authentic student voice and meaningful involvement throughout the process.

Christine has taken true ownership of this work, leading with vision and purpose to create an event that celebrates diversity and brings our community together. Her leadership is setting a powerful precedent at CMMS, creating a space where all students feel seen, valued, and connected.

Her dedication, initiative, and commitment to building an inclusive school community make her deeply deserving of recognition.

Don Danley - Golden Acorn

Don Danley is a steady, behind-the-scenes force who helps make our school community thrive. He has volunteered at countless events, supported classrooms and sports, and taken on whatever is needed—from printing and prep work to showing up wherever extra hands are required.

What makes Don exceptional is that he does all of this without a formal role or recognition—he simply shows up because he cares. His consistent presence provides a positive example for students, who know and appreciate him. Beyond the school, he continues this commitment as a leader and volunteer at a youth camp, supporting kids year-round.

Don’s reliability, humility, and dedication truly embody the spirit of the Golden Acorn Award.

Nicole Danley - Golden Acorn

Nicole Danley is an extraordinary volunteer whose impact spans years, schools, and the broader community. As Vice President of Programs for the CMMS PTSA, she leads with creativity and action, organizing events like the Glow Party, Bingo Night, and the upcoming Multicultural Night. This year’s Glow Party was widely praised as the smoothest yet, thanks to Nicole’s ability to step in, solve problems, and make things happen.

Her dedication goes far beyond one role or school. Nicole has served across multiple PTAs, volunteered in classrooms as an Art Docent, supported school events and activities, and continues to show up even after her own children have moved on. Beyond the school district, she gives her time to the community, including volunteering at Camas Meadows Children’s Camp near Leavenworth.

Nicole’s consistency, generosity, and willingness to jump in wherever needed make her truly deserving of the Golden Acorn Award.

Katie Accomazzo - Outstanding Advocate

Katie Accomazzo has made an immediate and remarkable impact in her first year at CMMS, bringing energy, passion, and a deep commitment to students both in and out of the classroom. As a language arts teacher, she has sparked genuine enthusiasm for learning, inspiring students to engage more deeply and even continue on advanced academic paths they may not have otherwise considered.

Beyond the classroom, Katie stepped up in a major way by volunteering to coach both JV and Varsity volleyball—despite having no prior coaching experience. Without her willingness to jump in, CMMS may not have been able to field teams this year. Instead, under her leadership, the teams thrived, achieving a combined 19–1 record and creating a strong sense of community, teamwork, and school pride among student athletes.

Katie also supports broader student opportunities by helping strengthen ASB fundraising efforts, working to ensure that sports, clubs, and arts programs are accessible to all students. Her collaboration with PTSA reflects her commitment to building a connected and supportive school community.

Katie’s enthusiasm, empathy, and “step in and make it happen” mindset make her an extraordinary educator. She is already making a lasting difference in the lives of her students and the CMMS community.

Erica Antonio - Outstanding Advocate

Erica Antonio is an extraordinary educator and leader who consistently goes above and beyond for the CMMS community. As an ELA/ALA teacher, instructional coach, and co-building equity lead, she is deeply committed to creating meaningful, inclusive experiences where every student feels seen, heard, and valued.

Erica shows up for students in every way—coaching track & field, attending games, concerts, and school events, and making herself available for both current and former students who need support. Her classroom is more than a place to learn; it is a safe, welcoming space where students feel connected and supported.

She has also taken the lead in spearheading CMMS’s first-ever Multicultural Fair, bringing together students, staff, and families to celebrate diversity and build community. Through her leadership of the Belonging Committee and her daily presence, Erica is helping shape a school culture rooted in inclusion and connection.

Even early in her career, Erica Antonio is making a lasting and meaningful impact on students and the entire CMMS community.
